Branding for Ronil Goa, a JdV by Hyatt Hotel

Ronil Goa marks the entry of the JdV by Hyatt brand in India and South West Asia.

The Hyatt team entrusted Hue & Why with the comprehensive brand consulting project that involved brand stakeholder immersions, competition audits, consumer research, category analysis, brand world conceptualisation, visual identity design and verbal identity crafting.

The brand narrative of this boutique resort is the coming together of the 'Nowness Fantasy' brand world of Ronil Goa; the essence of Goa where the resort is located; the 'Living in the moment/Enjoy the Now' philosophy of the JdV by Hyatt brand; and also the values and promise of the World of Hyatt. The brand world was brought alive through the design approach, colour usage, spatial elements, wayfinding, merchandise, crew uniform, F&B branding, hotel collaterals and more.

Ronil Goa is a one of a kind boutique resort with immersive experiences from the moment one steps in. This beverage first, adult friendly resort invites you into their world with a welcome shot at check in, takes the effort to understand your personal music preferences, and has a lot to offer like chic guesthouses, swim up bar, signature small plates, locally inspired cocktails, poolside barbecue, cabanas and more.

The Nowness Fantasy brand world takes inspiration from the 'experiences' canvas - experiences like concerts, festivals, biennales, events, and everything that this 'Open To Possibilities' mindset target group related to. Design codes from this world have been used to bring alive the Ronil Brand World - custom design hand drawn fantastical illustrations, a bold and distinct colour palette, a contemporary type, cheeky and quirky tone of voice, solid colour blocks, geometric shapes and an uninhibited manner of expression.

We got the opportunity to define how every touch point at the resort could be seen from the lens of this Nowness Fantasy World.

From choosing the staff uniform colour coding, to designing the wayfinding signages and iconography design, to creating the logo design for four different F&B spaces within the resort, to crafting print collaterals for the rooms, to creating digital hotel compendiums and activity brochures, to creating restaurant collaterals (coffee cups, sandwich sleeves, takeaway boxes, coasters, etc.), to creating resort merchandise like totebags, notebooks, umbrellas, caps, mugs and bottles, and much much more - this branding project was an extensive and interesting and absolutely fun engagement.

There are 3 different F&B spaces within Ronil Goa, and we defined the identity of each of these distinct spaces.

Patrao’s is the lobby bar that serves as the first space where visitors enter from the world outside to the world inside Ronil. The lobby bar is inspired by the tavern bars of Goa, but has an identity of it’s own. Ronil Bistro is inspired by the family style dining culture of Goa - and this space offers the Classics, it focuses on the Community aspect and is all about being Evocative. Lastly, The Hub is the pool bar at Ronil where all the action is - it is the centre of all the fun and energy.
